Bradford Reveals Revolutionary Soft Lambda Wool Insulation

After extensive technological development, Bradford Insulation has revealed Bradford Gold Lambda ( λ ) Wool, an insulation wool that has added unprecedented softness and improved thermal performance to the company’s Bradford Gold range.

Bradford Gold Lambda ( λ ) Wool is the culmination of several years of development work to establish the ideal conditions under which Isover Saint Gobain’s (ISG) highly successful Arlanda fibre could be produced.

Arlanda is an extremely fine bio-soluble fibre with improved thermal insulation characteristics and softness that has transformed the Bradford Gold range.

Soft to the Touch, Hard on Performance

Recent feedback from installers has confirmed that as well as improving the thermal insulation characteristics of Bradford Gold, the Arlanda fibre in the new Bradford Gold Lambda ( λ ) Wool range is soft to the touch and much more comfortable to handle. The finer fibre also allows an even distribution of fibres, providing optimum consistency of density through the product.

Bradford Gold Lambda ( λ ) Wool is named after the lambda value – the coefficient of thermal conductivity and a universal measure of thermal insulation performance, an improvement of which remained a key focus for Bradford.

The Technology

Bradford has worked extensively to establish the operating parameters for the production of ISG’s Arlanda fibre. Because Arlanda is substantially finer than standard fibre, it requires precise control of manufacturing parameters and the use of only premium quality raw materials.

ISG is the world’s leading manufacturer of glass fibre insulation products. The company’s relationship with Bradford Insulation began in 1990, when Bradford adopted its TEL fiberising technology after an extensive review of worldwide technologies.
Over the next 21 years Bradford worked closely with ISG’s French research and development facility, utilising TEL to further improve the quality and performance of the Bradford product range. Through combined efforts Bradford was the first insulation manufacturer to introduce bio-soluble product into the New Zealand market in 1999.

The Bradford-ISG partnership continues to grow in strength through both parties’ innovation, research and development. Bradford has the only in-house NATA approved testing facility for testing insulation to meet the stringent New Zealand Standards.
