For homeowners, Optimo retro-fit can be easily installed in timber floors after a home is built, by fixing the newly designed segments to timber joists from underneath the house, bottom up.

Optimo has been developed so it is rigid enough to hold itself in place between joists, but soft enough to be easily manipulated and installed.

Sound can enter your home anywhere that air is also able to enter, so external noise can be transferred through your floor. Optimo is made from rockwool, which has long been regarded by architects and builders as the industry standard for acoustic insulation, making Optimo  an excellent sound absorber. In fact, Bradford Optimo can reduce sound transmission through the floor by up to 6dB. Not only will it help reduce noise entering your home from outside, it will also dampen the sound of foot traffic on timber floors.

Rockwool, the insulation material used in Optimo, is further proven to provide up to an extra 30 minutes fire protection, as it does not burn or contribute to the spread of fire.

Ashley Whitter, Bradford Residential Marketing Manager, says: "Bradford is providing homeowners with the premium product offering in the residential market.

“A home with a suspended timber floor experiences heating and cooling loss, by as much as 15%, and by installing sub-floor insulation homeowners can improve the heating and cooling energy efficiency of a poorly designed house by as much as 80%, if installed in conjunction with wall, ceiling, ventilation and window and door seals,” Ashley said.

“DIY homeowners can now easily install this insulation themselves with Optimo retro-fit. This saves them both money on installation and heating and cooling costs for their home.

“Optimo for new homes is also easier to install than other products and being the only sub-floor insulation to provide thermal, acoustic and fire resistance, there is a great benefit to builders and property owners alike.

“We’re excited by the launch of Bradford Insulation Optimo as it gives more back to the green conscious property owner and makes it easier for the builder,”  Ashley said.
